EB-1C
Multinational manager or executive
The EB-1C is a green card for managers and executives of companies that operate in the U.S. and abroad. The U.S. employer files the petition, and there is no labor certification step (the Department of Labor process called PERM). It often follows an L-1A, since the facts are similar.

What the case needs
- 01At least one year of work in a managerial or executive role for a related company abroad, within the three years before filing. If you already work in the U.S. for the same employer, the three years are counted back from your entry.
- 02A qualifying relationship between the U.S. employer and the company abroad: the same company, or a parent, branch, subsidiary, or affiliate.
- 03A U.S. job offer in a managerial or executive role.
- 04A U.S. employer that has been doing business for at least one year.
- 05Proof that the employer can pay the offered wage, and a staff and structure that support a managerial role.
Your case, start to finish.
An attorney traces the ownership chain and confirms it still qualifies, since a restructuring after an L-1 approval can break it.
We document both roles with org charts, reporting lines, budgets, and a breakdown of how you spend your time.
We show how the U.S. company's size and staffing fit a managerial or executive role, using payroll and financial records.
If you hold an L-1A, we keep the EB-1C consistent with what earlier filings said.
Before you ask.
If I have an L-1A, will the EB-1C be approved?
Not automatically. The standards are similar, and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) reviews the green card petition on its own record. A small company needs a clear account of who does the day-to-day work so that your role stays managerial.
Can I qualify as a function manager?
Yes. You can qualify by managing an essential function of the business, such as engineering or finance, with few direct reports. The petition must show that the function is essential and that others carry out its routine work.
How long does it take?
It depends on USCIS processing of the petition and on the State Department's monthly Visa Bulletin, which may require a wait depending on your country of birth. Premium processing may be available for the petition. We confirm current options when we evaluate your case.
Can my family get green cards too?
Yes. Your spouse and unmarried children under 21 can receive green cards as your dependents.
