EB-1B
Outstanding professor or researcher

The EB-1B is a green card for professors and researchers recognized internationally as outstanding in a specific academic field. A university or qualifying research employer files the petition, based on a permanent job offer. There is no labor certification step (the Department of Labor process called PERM).

How we build it

Your case, start to finish.

An attorney confirms that the job offer meets the permanent-position rules before any evidence work starts.

We collect citation data, peer review records, grant panel service, and coverage of your work. Our tools tie each item to a criterion.

We include letters from independent experts who know your work through its influence on the field, alongside letters from collaborators.

We coordinate with your employer's HR or international office, which signs and files the petition.

Questions

Before you ask.

What counts as a permanent position?

A tenured or tenure-track post, or a research job with no fixed end date where you can expect to keep working unless there is good cause to end it. A fixed-term postdoc usually does not qualify.

Does my PhD time count toward the three years?

It can, once you have earned the degree. Teaching during your studies counts if you had full responsibility for the class. Research during your studies counts if it has been recognized in the field as outstanding.

Can I file this myself?

No. The employer must file. If you want to file on your own, the EB-1A and EB-2 NIW allow that.

Can my family get green cards too?

Yes. Your spouse and unmarried children under 21 can receive green cards as your dependents.
